Hyperglycemia, or high blood sugar, is a condition in which an excessive amount of glucose circulates in the blood plasma. This is generally a glucose level higher than 10 mmol/l (180 mg/dl), but symptoms may not start to become noticeable until even higher values such as 15-20 mmol/l (270-360 mg/dl). However, chronic levels exceeding 7 mmol/l (125 mg/dl) can produce organ damage. Blood glucose levels can rise well above normal for significant periods without producing any permanent effects or symptoms. However, chronic hyperglycemia at levels more than slightly above normal can produce a very wide variety of serious complications over a period of years, including kidney damage, neurological damage, cardiovascular damage, damage to the retina etc.

Insulin is a hormone that is central to regulating carbohydrate and fat metabolism in the body. Insulin causes cells in the liver, muscle, and fat tissue to take up glucose from the blood, storing it as glycogen in the liver and muscle. Insulin stops the use of fat as an energy source by inhibiting the release of glucagon. When insulin is absent, glucose is not taken up by body cells and the body begins to use fat as an energy source or gluconeogenesis; for example, by transfer of lipids from adipose tissue to the liver for mobilization as an energy source. As its level is a central metabolic control mechanism, its status is also used as a control signal to other body systems (such as amino acid uptake by body cells). In addition, it has several other anabolic effects throughout the body. Insulin is produced in the pancreas and released when any of the several stimuli are detected. The stimuli include ingested protein and glucose in the blood produced from digested food. Carbohydrate can be polymers of simple sugars or the simple sugars themselves. If the carbohydrate includes glucose then that glucose will be absorbed into the bloodstream and blood glucose level will begin to rise. In target cells, insulin initiates a signal transduction, which has the effect of increasing glucose uptake and storage. Finally, insulin is degraded, terminating the response.

The DiaEZ and Eleotin are designed for Type 2 non-insulin injecting patients. The Sweet Balance was designed for Type 2 injecting insulin, Type 1 adult injecting insulin and Type 1 juvenile onset injecting insulin. If this person is Type 2 there would be no need to use the Sweet Balance although it will work for them also. If a Type 2 diabetic decides to use both products they need to keep an extra close eye on their sugar so it won't drop to quickly. If they are weaning themselves off type - meds like Glucophage they need to be extra diligent in monitoring their sugar. DiaEZ is different than Eleotin as is easier to take. Eleotin requires three different formulations taken at Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. DaiEZ requires only 1 product, taken at B, L, and D.  Eleotin's three products per day is marketing nothing more. They can charge a lot more for the product making the customer a bit more comfortable with paying such a high price. DiaEZ is just as good but much more cost effective.
